Our approach
Self-driving vehicles are the hardest engineering challenge of our generation. It’s even more difficult in a dense urban environment like San Francisco. But once that challenge is solved, our self-driving vehicles will help save lives, reimagine cities, redefine time in transit, and restore freedom of movement for many. To make that future a reality, we’re hiring the best and brightest engineers: individuals with skills and experiences ranging from data science to AI, robotics to hardware, and speech processing to data modeling.
From our Data Infrastructure team handling petabytes of data to the Robotics team writing the code that steers our vehicles, our various engineering teams work together to bring self-driving vehicles to life.
Every Cruise vehicle is designed, engineered, and purpose-built from the ground up. The hardware systems necessary for self-driving are seamlessly integrated and tested to achieve optimal performance.
Our team
At Cruise, we have the opportunity to work on one of the biggest AI challenges of our time while redefining what transportation can be for our society.

Our strengths
By teaming up with General Motors, Honda, and Microsoft, we have an ecosystem of hardware, software, and manufacturing excellence that is unprecedented in our industry. We leverage their world-class leadership in car design, manufacturing, AI, and cloud computing so we can focus on what we do best: designing the software and hardware unique to self-driving.
GM, Honda, Microsoft, SoftBank, and T. Rowe Price have invested billions in Cruise. Their backing for our technology demonstrates their confidence in our progress, team, and vision and makes us one of the leading autonomous vehicle organizations in the industry. Our deep resources greatly accelerate our operating speed.
As a majority-owned subsidiary of GM, Cruise operates autonomously, just like our vehicles. We have our own governance, board of directors, equity, and investors. Our independence allows us to not just work on the bleeding-edge of technology, but also define it.
You won’t just own your work here, you’ll have the potential to own equity in Cruise, too. The value of Cruise equity has increased at a compound annual growth rate of more than 100% since GM’s first investment in Cruise. We are competing in a market that is projected to grow to $557 billion by 2026, which gives our company valuation room to grow. We’re just beginning our journey—come join us.*
*Any discussions about the future valuation of Cruise or industry size are forward looking statements, and such statements are based on uncertainties and assumptions and any undue reliance should not be placed upon them.
Our benefits
Our locations
California
We are proud to call San Francisco home. San Francisco is where we were founded—in a garage in Russian Hill, to be exact—and our headquarters remains in the city today. Based in SoMa, our headquarters is within walking distance to Caltrain’s SF station, great restaurants and bars, the Embarcadero, Oracle Park, and the new home of the Golden State Warriors, the Chase Center.
Washington
As we continue to scale our engineering teams at Cruise, we're thrilled to expand beyond our hometown. With a thriving tech community and a vibrant culture, the greater Seattle area was an easy choice. We're excited to join the community in Bellevue, WA and introduce Cruise to talented engineers who are inspired by the technical challenges of making self-driving vehicles a reality.
Arizona
Phoenix’s 300 days of sunshine became a natural second home for us to continuously improve our self-driving technology. Our talented Global Markets and Product Operations teams have set the groundwork for Cruise’s business, and they continue to do so as we scale. With a spacious 100,000 square foot office located just off the 10 highway, motivated individuals can enjoy an easy commute and the burgeoning restaurant scene in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
